Complainant Name: Clauses Noted: 3, 5, 6 Publication: Newtownards Chronicle Complaint: A woman complained to the Press Complaints Commission about an article, which reported the death of a local school boy who was hit by a car. She was concerned that the newspaper had published a message that her son had posted on the deceased's Facebook wall following the fatal accident, which she considered to be intrusive in breach of Clauses 3 (Privacy), 5 (Intrusion into grief or shock) and 6 (Children) of the Editors' Code of Practice. Resolution: The complaint was resolved when the newspaper wrote privately to the complainant.
