Complainant Name: Clauses Noted: 1, 2 Publication: The Scottish Sun Complaint: Mr Shaun Sinclair complained to the Press Complaints Commission that an article, which stated that his niece was thought to be Scotland's youngest female suicide victim, breached the terms of Clauses 1 (Accuracy) and 2 (Opportunity to reply) of the Editors' Code of Practice. Resolution: The complaint was resolved when the PCC negotiated the removal of the online article, a charitable donation and the publication of the following apology: On April 30, we reported that Shannon Stewart was thought to be Scotland's youngest female suicide victim. Her family have informed us that her death was accidental and not suicide. We apologise for any distress our story may have caused.Date Published: 17/09/2012 << Go Back |
