Mr Stephen Wren complained to the Press Complaints Commission under Clause 1 (Accuracy) about an article, which claimed that Middlesbrough FC fans went on a rampage after a game against Ipswich FC was called off. The complainant had written to the newspaper outlining his concerns. However, he never received a reply.

The complaint was resolved when the PCC negotiated the removal of the online article and a private letter of apology from the newspaper explaining the reasons for its failure to make direct contact with the complainant.
